Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: UAE banks’ deposits in local currency rose 3.5% or AED 32.5 billion year-on-year in the first four months of 2017, according to a statement.
Deposits rose to AED 965.3 billion in the four-month period of 2017, compared to AED 932.8 billion in the same period of 2016.
Deposits in local currency acquired more than 70% of the total deposits worth AED 1.37 trillion.
Deposits in foreign currency fell 0.56% to AED 407.34 billion in the same period of 2017, compared to AED 409.65 billion in the prior-year period.
