UAE – Mubasher: The banks operating in the UAE have withdrawn around 88% of the AED 50 billion liquidity facilities, equivalent to AED 44 billion, granted by the country amid coronavirus (COVID-19), according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
The announcement came during the video conference meeting held by the board of the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) on 16 June to review the use of the Targeted Economic Support Scheme (TESS).
A total of 26 banks benefitted from the UAE's economic support plan, with 17 banks that have availed all the allocated funds.
Meanwhile, over 140,000 customers used the facilities, and more than 180,000 beneficiaries outside the TESS liquidity facility postponed loan payments worth around AED 8 billion.
