Cairo - Mubasher: UAE, Chinese and Libyan companies among 35 local and foreign ones compete to win the new cement licenses whose tender specifications were submitted on 10 February, revealed the Industrial Development Authority (IDA).
According to a statement published yesterday, IDA finished last Wednesday handing over to investors the tender specifications of establishing Portland gray cement projects.
Ismail Gaber, IDA Chairman said that the offering of new licenses comes under the Ministry of Trade and Industry's strategy to launch new investments in the cement sector.
The Ministry of Trade and Industry announced last month that tender specifications for 14 new gray cement production licenses were available in nine governorates (Beni Suef, Minya, Qena, Sohag, Aswan, Al-Wadi Al-Gadid, Suez, Marsa Matrouh and South Sinai), with a total production capacity 28 million tonnes by 2 million tonnes for each plant.
Meanwhile, IDA set 10 May as a deadline to receive investors’ offers in accordance with tender specifications they have.
