Dubai – Mubasher: The UAE federal government’s revenue collected through e-Dirham services surged 51% to AED 11.8 billion in 2017, compared to AED 7.8 billion a year earlier, according to the Ministry of Finance's (MoF) statement on Monday.

The total transactions completed via the e-Dirham system registered 51.5 million transactions in the previous year, while the receipts’ number reached 22.6 million in the last four quarters, the Emirati MoF revealed.

“These data help in developing the e-Dirham system, sharing the necessary information with the federal government to aid in decision making, and drive development in the government financial sector,” The assistant undersecretary of resources and budget sector at the MoF Saeed Rashid Al Yateem said.

The overall number of issued e-Dirham cards soared 30% to 3.14 million in the fourth quarter of 2017, in comparison with 2 million the year-ago period.

“The e-Dirham system is characterised by its flexible platforms which easily integrate with e-government services, offering scalable, and unlimited options to merge with the latest payment service applications,” Al Yateem concluded.
