UAE exports to US rise 15.6% in April

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The UAE’s exports of goods to the US grew by 15.6% year-on-year in April 2018 to register AED 1.5 billion ($411.1 million) from AED 1.3 billion ($355.6 million).

The GCC country’s imports of American goods stood at AED 6.1 billion ($1.67 billion) last April, compared to AED 5.54 billion ($1.5 billion) in April 2017, data by the US Commerce Department’s statistics centre showed.

The non-oil trade exchange between both countries rose by 11.7% last April to hit AED 7.64 billion ($2.08 billion), versus AED 6.8 billion ($1.86 billion) in the same month last year.

Moreover, trade exchange between the UAE and the US dropped by 11.6% year-on-year in the first four months of this year, recording AED 26.4 billion ($7.2 billion) from AED 29.9 billion ($8.16 billion).

The UAE’s total exports to the US amounted to around AED 5.66 billion ($1.54 billion) during the four-month period of 2018, a 2.8% higher than AED 5.5 billion ($1.5 billion) in the first four months of 2017, according to data.

On the other hand, the UAE’s total imports from the US fell 15.16% to AED 20.7 billion ($5.66 billion) in the four-month period this year, compared to AED 24.4 billion ($6.66 billion) in the same period a year earlier.

The UAE has topped the GCC countries as the largest market for American exports in the region during the first four months of 2018, with total exports worth $5.66 billion, followed by Saudi Arabia and Kuwait with total American exports of $4.4 billion and $1.01 billion, respectively.
