Abu Dhabi - Mubasher: UAE companies could face fines of up to EUR 20 million in case of not applying the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), according to a press release.
A recent report by the UAE-based Consultative Solutions Provider Condo Protego Company showed that these regulations are set to come into effect by 25 May 2018, noting that 86% of global organizations are concerned are about meeting the new rules.
Savitha Bhaskar, the chief operating officer of Condo Protego said that UAE organizations that does business in the European Union or with its residents in all fields will be affected by the data privacy regulations.
With many Emirati organizations not aware if they are compliant, this summer is vital to begin their compliance, or risk falling behind and facing penalties, she added.
