Dubai – Mubasher: The UAE’s volume of investments abroad exceed $1.5 billion (AED 5.51 billion), amid aspirations to increase this value in the coming years.

The UAE foreign investments are mainly focused on the financial sector and investment portfolios in US and Europe, according to Jamal Saif Al Jarwan, secretary general of UAE International Investors Council.

Around 75% of the UAE’s total foreign investments are in securities, bonds and assets, Al Jarwan noted.

A number of UAE companies consider expansion and raising foreign investments despite current challenges on the back of lower oil prices, the secretary general noted.

There are a number of promising investment opportunities in the infrastructure sector in Asia, in addition to others in African countries and Morocco.

“2017 is expected to be better in line with the recovery of oil prices,” Al Jarwan said.

The council will hold a conference in December with the participation of JP Morgan, which will provide a forecast for the best markets and investment opportunities, Al Jarwan said.
