UAE healthy ministry automatises nuclear medicine

Dubai – Mubasher: The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) on Saturday announced the inclusion of a Nuclear Medicine Workflow Automation app in Wareed electronic healthcare information system to improve the patient healthcare quality and effectiveness.

The Nuclear Medicine Workflow Automation app document all clinical actions including orders, appointments, and reports, which are part of a unified patient medical record, according to the Emirati News Agency (WAM).

“The use of these new apps reflects ministry’s vision for the future, which falls in line with its strategy of developing effective health information systems,” said Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Assistant Under-Secretary for Support Services.

“The Nuclear Medicine workflow automation app aims to get rid of the manual documentation of patient files,” Mubaraka Ibrahim, Director of MOHAP’s Health Information Systems Department, commented.

Health ministry physicians now can use Cerner applications to place electronic orders, WAM reported, citing MOHAP as saying.

Nuclear medicine is a branch of medical imaging, which uses small amounts of radioactive material to diagnose and determine the severity of a range of diseases, and treats them, including many types of cancer and heart diseases, in addition to neurological disorders.
