Decypha – Cairo: The United Arab Emirates national index executive team responsible for the ratio of net foreign direct investment from total GDP has officially commenced working, holding their first meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy in Dubai.
The meeting was chaired by Juma Mohammed Kait, Assistant Undersecretary for Foreign Trade Chairman of the executive team. In attendance were team members from: Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ministry, the Federal Authority for competitive and Statistics, the Bank of the United Arab Emirates, Central Department of Economic Development Abu Dhabi, Dubai Foundation for the development of investment and the Sharjah Investment and Development (Shorouk).
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, issued the orders to the executive teams of the National Agenda and the development of integrated national action plans to ensure the achievement of the targets of the agenda.
The of the executive team chairman gave a detailed presentation on the national index, The Ratio of Net Foreign Direct Investment of GDP Flows. In the presentation, he addressed the index components, calculation mechanism, and the approved official sources to calculate the index value of the data.
The meeting also agreed to work within the two main tracks. The first tracks include initiatives to focus on the statistical side, the collection and processing of accurate data, the inclusiveness at the national level, and published in the reports of international organizations in the appropriate time frames.
The second track contains initiatives to focus on the coordination aspect between all the state stakeholders and work through the executive team to develop various initiatives, medium and long-term, to attract more foreign state investments and contribute in achieving the 2021 target.
The UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai ordered last October the formation of "executive teams to national agenda" consisting of the 550 official representing different parties and sectors and levels.
The executive teams will work on achieving the 52 national indicator to measure the achievements of State achieve leadership, happiness and welfare of the community within the six national priorities: health, education, economy, environment, infrastructure, society, security and justice.
The executive team’s tasks include launching fast impact initiatives, medium and long-term initiatives, and to propose a joint sub-work teams to carry them out. As well as overseeing the implementation of the plans with the help of innovative tools, and coordination with various governmental and international relevant authorities.
