UAE invests $80bn in science & tech fields

Abu Dhabi-Mubasher: The UAE’s investments in the science and technology-related sectors amounted to $80 billion (AED 293.836 billion), Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, UAE Minister of Economy said.

The nation’s investments in the clean energy sector stood at $40 billion (AED 146.918 billion), of which $18 billion (AED 66.113 billion) was pumped in the renewable energy sector, he added on the sidelines of a seminar on aerospace.

Investments in the civil aviation sector amounted to $15 billion (AED 55.094 billion), in addition to $5 billion (AED 18,364 billion) spent on space-related projects, he said on the behalf of Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

Al Mansouri added that the UAE spent more $8 billion (AED 29.383 billion) on research and development in other vital sectors and $5.1 billion (AED 18.732 billion) was allocated to establish innovation incubators.
