Mubasher: The UAE has decided to suspend work at kindergartens, as well as school trips and activities to combat the new coronavirus (COVID-19), Minister of Education Hussain Al Hamadi announced in a press conference on Saturday.
The decision is effective starting from Sunday, 1 March, and until further notice.
The ministry has launched an awareness campaign in schools across the emirates, in coordination with the Ministry of Health.
Furthermore, the education ministry announced the availability of e-learning platforms to allow students, who are absent due to respiratory illness or other reasons, to continue studies from home and follow up with their teachers.
On Friday, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council cancelled the remaining rounds of the 2020 UAE Tour, a cycling competition, after two Italian participants tested positive for the virus.
In the meantime, China reported 47 new deaths with the new virus, as well as 427 confirmed and 248 suspected cases.
The total number of deaths resulting from the epidemic in China reached 2,835, while the number of infections reached 79,251.
