Dubai - Mubasher: The UAE population hit 9.121 million as at 31 December 2016, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) cited the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority (FCSA) as saying on Thursday.
The male population made up 69% (6.3 million) of the total, while the female population accounted for 31% (2.82 million), WAM reported.
The data was collected via the national administrative data methodology – the first of its kind in the region – which is characterised as highly accurate, cost-saving, and fast.
The authority’s director general Abdulla Nasser Lootah stated: “Since the inception of the FCSA, one of our strategic objectives has always been to spare no effort in evolving and modernising the statistical ecosystem in the UAE in accordance with best and most advanced global standards and best practices.”
