Mubasher: Online consumers in the UAE spent $1,648, to register the largest value in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia (MENASA) region during 2017, Dubai CommerCity’s report showed.
Growth rate for online shopping is expected to hit 29.6% in 2020 in the UAE, the report added.
The report further noted that GCC region is considered the largest spending market and fastest growing in online consuming, while South Asia makes up the major market at the level of size.
“The region's e-commerce sector is expected to grow aggressively at 24.6% through to 2020,” the report noted.
On a separate note, MENASA’s e-commerce sales amounted to $51 billion in 2017.
Around 115 million persons, or 16% of MENASA’s internet users are online consumers.
Dubai CommerCity is a joint venture (JV) between wasl Asset Management Group and Dubai Airport Freezone Authority (DAFZA).
