Dubai – Mubasher: UAE passport topped its Arabic counterparts in 2018, after standing at the 27th rank in the list of the world's most powerful passports.
The UAE passport provides a visa-free access to 140 countries for its holders, according to Henley & Partners Passport Index report.
Japan and Singapore passports topped the list, providing visa-free access to 180 countries all over the world, the report showed.
Germany, which spearheaded the ranking during the past few years, came second with an admittance to 179 countries.
The UAE passport jumped 11 places from last year, after gaining visa-free access to China and Ireland, making it the 3rd biggest climbers on the index in 2018, after Ukraine and Georgia.
Over the past decade, the UAE passport beat other 34 passports in the index, as 45 countries removed visa procedures for its holders.
As for other GCC countries, Kuwait passport came second, standing at 59th globally, followed by Qatar which came in the 61st spot, while Bahrain, Oman, and Saudi Arabia ranked 65th, 67th, and 70th, respectively.
Egypt passport stood at the 87th rank, with visa-free access to only 50 countries all over the world.
