Dubai – Mubasher: The UAE had signed as much as 175 air transport agreements and memoranda with a number of countries, director general of the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi said.
Accordingly, the GCC nation has been ranked the world’s first country in terms of the number of Open Skies treaties, according to the GCAA said in a statement.
Al Suwaidi noted that such treaties improve cooperation and economic relationships between the UAE and the rest of the world.
These agreements will also help the GCC nation to explore investment opportunities, in addition to enhancing trading exchange. he added.
The GCAA aims to improve the country's trade and tourism sectors through signing more agreements, Al Suwaidi pointed out.
The state-run body also eyes supporting the UAE’s national carriers that have strategic plans towards expansion and upgrading their fleets.
