UAE reduces prices of some medicines by 24% - Ministry

Mubasher: The UAE's Ministry of Health and Prevention on Saturday announced decreasing the prices of seven medicines by 24%.

This amendment in prices is based on the ministerial decision number (1400) for 2017, said Amin Hussein Al Amiri, Assistant Under-Secretary for Public Health Policy and Licensing and Vice Chairman of the Higher committee for Drug Pricing and Registration.

Reducing the prices was implemented in collaboration with the international firm for medicines, Sanofi-Aventis.

The medicines which their prices were amended are treatments for Arthritis, Epilepsy fits, heart attacks, prostate cancer, diabetes, antibiotics, and breast cancer, Al Amiri added.

The official concluded that The UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention reduced the prices of 8,732 medicines through seven initiatives started on 1 July 2011.
