Mubasher: The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) announced the first two deaths caused by the new coronavirus (COVID-19), Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.
A 78-year old Arab national who arrived in the UAE from Europe, died from a heart attack, while the second case is a 58-year old Asian resident of the UAE, who suffered from heart disease and kidney failure.
In a statement on Saturday, the ministry expressed regret and sincere condolences to the families of the deceased, stressing that they were receiving all the necessary medical care.
The global pandemic has a mortality rate of 3.6%, according to statistics available to the ministry, noting that the rate increases among the elderly, as well as those with an impaired immune system or chronic illness.
