UAE’s ADDED issues 3,854 new economic licences in Q2

UAE – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) announced it has issued 3,854 new economic licences during the second quarter of 2019, up 44% from the 2,671 commercial licences issued in Q2-18.

The ADDED has issued 1,947 new licences in Abu Dhabi, 567 in Al Ain, and 87 in Al Dhafra region, in addition to 1,171 Tajer Abu Dhabi – Golden Package licences, and 82 Instant licences, according to Q2-19 commercial activity report issued by the Department’s Abu Dhabi Business Center.

Rashed Abdul Karim Al Balooshi, Undersecretary of ADDED, said that the positive results shown in the report bolster the position of the UAE’s capital as “an attractive investment hub” and promote new businesses in the emirate in line with international best practices.

Moreover, the ADDED has issued a total of 3,654 commercial licences in the three-month period ended 30 June 2019, up 44.7% from 2,524 commercial licences in the year-ago period, the report indicated.

The ADDED has issued 1,838 commercial licences in Abu Dhabi, 524 in Al Ain and 81 in Al Dhafra, the report added.

“Meanwhile, 1,135 Tajer Abu Dhabi – Golden Package licences were issued in Abu Dhabi for commercial activities compared to 593 licences issued during the same period last year. 82 Instant licences were also issued by the ADDED,” the report said.

The more demand for commercial licences increases the more investors’ interest in pursuing opportunities in Abu Dhabi’s services sector grow, Al Balooshi said, highlighting the competitiveness of the national economy and the thriving local business sector.

The ADDED has been always determined to launch initiatives and programmes to improve the work environment and attract investments, as well as boost the emirate’s competitiveness, he noted.

Furthermore, 86 craftsmanship licences have been issued in Q2-19, up 76% from 49 licences in the prior-year period.

Almost 67 new professional licences were also issued, up 31% from 51 professional licences in Q2-18.

“Six agricultural, fisheries and animal species licences were issued during Q2-19, compared to four and three licences issued respectively during the same period last year. In addition, 37 tourist licences were also issued during the second quarter of this year,” the report highlighted.

It is worth noting that the Abu Dhabi Business Center reported that it has carried out 20,173 licence renewals and 7,299 licence amendments for several economic activities in Q2-19.
