UAE’s ADFD assigns AED 10.5bn to Bahraini projects

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) has allocated AED 10.5 billion (BHD 1.08 billion or $2.86 billion) to finance 26 development projects in Bahrain.

The projects span a number of sectors including housing, energy, transportation, and healthcare, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

These projects are part of a larger grant provided by the UAE under the GCC development programme for Bahrain.

An ADFD delegation convened with several Bahraini government officials and reviewed the progress of a number of these projects, some of which have reached 90% completion.

The ADFD and the Bahraini government enjoy over four-decades’ worth of strong relations, commented Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, ADFD director-general, indicating that the two sides have worked together to achieve Bahrain’s sustainable development goals (SDGs) in a variety of economic sectors.

Commissioned in 2013, the GCC development programme for Bahrain, is a “sustainable model of development support extended by the UAE to Bahrain managed by ADFD,” the top official said.

“During our recent visit to Bahrain, our technical delegation reviewed the phases of completion of various projects and discussed and coordinated the work flow with officials from different government entities there," he added.
