UAE's APEX signs MoU with Israeli medical centre for healthcare technologies

UAE - Mubasher: The UAE's APEX National Investment has inked a preliminary agreement with Israel’s Sheba Medical Centre to enhance healthcare technologies in the UAE and the Gulf region, Reuters reported.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), both entities will cooperate in medical innovation, professional training, medical tourism, and the coronavirus (COVID-19) treatment.

Meanwhile, Sheba and APEX will establish an innovation hub in the Gulf region based on Sheba’s big data platform.

The Director of Sheba International at Sheba Medical Center, Yoel Hareven, said that the final agreement is forecast to be penned around 21 September in the UAE.

Hareven added: "We’ve embedded existing Israeli telemedicine technology, which allows us to provide medical care to coronavirus patients while minimizing risk to the medical teams - this is of great interest to the Emirates."

The agreement is the second cooperation signed between APEX and Israeli companies since the UAE and Israel have agreed to normalise the relations in August.

It is noteworthy to mention that in mid-August, APEX reached an agreement with the Israeli TeraGroup to develop research and studies on COVID-19.
