Abu Dhabi - Mubasher: The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) announced on Saturday, the completion of arounf 75% of the construction work of the UAE’s first nuclear power plant, according to a press release.
Work is more than 50% done on units three and four of the Barakah nuclear power project, the statement indicated.
The construction of the project has begun back in 2012, and it is expected to be completed by 2020.
Mohammad Al Hammadi, the CEO of ENEC, expressed his content with the successful achievement of these milestones for units 3 and 4 of the project.
The nuclear plant is expected to provide more than 25% of the UAE’s electricity needs, saving up to 12 million tonnes in carbon emissions every year.
