Abu Dhabi-Mubasher: Dubai-based Ducab plans to increase its exports from 20% to 40% of its output within the coming years, with plans to expand in African and Asian markets, according to the company’s chief commercial officer Mohammed Abdul Rahman Al Mutawa.

“Ducab provides 80% of its production to the local market and GCC countries, while the remainder is exported to many countries around the world,” Al Mutawa explained.

The company produces more than 115,000 tonnes of low, medium and high-voltage cables per annum, in addition to 110,000 tonnes of copper bars and cables.

“We plan to raise our exports to 35% in 2016 and 2017, and to 40% in the long term,” he added.

Ducab added new export markets in 2016 including Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, bringing the total number of export markets to 40 countries.

“We are currently focusing on the local market, and seek to expand in the MENA, Asia and Australia,” Al Mutawa noted.
