UAE’s Grandweld launches production phase of 10 boats to KOC

Mubasher: Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) and the UAE-based Grandweld Shipyard announced the commencement of the production phase for building six Pilot Boats and four Crew Boats for KOC, according to a recent report.

In May 2017, the design and engineering phase for this project with KOC has started and now the production phase has commenced with a target to deliver the first boat in December 2018, while the ten boats will be fully delivered in July 2019.

“The six Pilot Boats and four Crew Boats are custom designed in accordance with KOC technical requirements,” the statement said.

The boats are designed and equipped adopting the latest technology and Lloyd's Register’s classification rules to provide high operational efficiency and safety.

The general manager of Grandweld Shipyards, Jamal Abki, said, “The first major contract for the building of four crane boats was awarded to Grandweld during 2013.  This project is moving in accordance with schedule and plans.  Grandweld is confident to deliver on time and to fulfill the satisfaction of our significant Customer, (KOC).”
