UAE's Lamprell wins contract for Saudi Arabia jackup rigs

Mubasher: The UAE-based Lamprell has received a letter of intent from its Saudi Arabian joint venture with International Maritime Industries Company (IMI) to supply two jack-up rigs, Construction Week Online reported.

This contract covers the construction and delivery of two jackup drilling units that are built collaboratively between Lamprell and IMI and delivered to the latter’s unspecified end-client, Construction Week Online added.

The units will be constructed to the stringent Schedule G requirements for operations in Saudi Arabia, while Lamprell will implement most of the fabrication works for the project at its Hamriyah yard in the UAE, while maximising work in Saudi to roughly 15%.

Lamprell, a London-listed engineering and contracting services provider, has not disclosed the total value of the contract.

“There are ongoing discussions between end client, IMI, and Lamprell to conclude the specifications and contract terms which, once determined, will result in final contract signing for the rigs,” Lamprell added in a statement, according to Construction Week Online.
