Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Emirates News Agency (WAM) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Chinese People's daily newspaper "People's Daily".
Under the deal, the two national media outlets will bolster media cooperation particularly in the exchange of news and reports.
Signed on the sidelines of the Media Cooperation Forum on Belt and Road, which commenced Tuesday in Boao, southern China's Hainan Province, the MoU comes as part of the two countries’ growing relations under the Belt and Road initiative.
WAM executive director Mohammed Jalal Alrayssi signed the MoU with People Daily’s Editor-in-Chief Li Baoshan, WAM reported on Wednesday.
The deal aims to bolster ties between the UAE and China in general and between WAM and People Daily.
The MoU aligns “with the growing relations between the two friendly countries which are promoted under the Belt and Road Initiative - China's gateway to the Middle East and the Gulf region and a global financial centre and incubator for a large number of international companies and leading projects in all fields,” WAM added.
WAM’s executive director said that the MoU would see the two news outlets exchange reports and opinion pieces, collaborate in the organisation of press conferences and reports on the Belt and Road initiative, in the two countries.
