Dubai – Mubasher: A report issued by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) on Wednesday said that the logistic services sector in the UAE is expected to achieve growth of 4.8% until 2021, according to a press release.
The report also referred to the increasing demand for air cargo in the country between 2012 and 2016, registering a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.6%.
The volume of transferred cargoes through Dubai International Airport and Abu Dhabi International Airport in 2017 is likely to rise by 5% and 12%, respectively, and it will keep growing until 2021 with a CAGR of 3.2% and 5.2%, respectively.
The report stressed that the UAE is playing a paramount role in maritime transport in the Middle East, as the volume of container ships went up by 3% to 21.7 million container ships in 2016 compared to 2015.
The volume of manipulations is forecast to increase 5% by the end of the current year to 22.4 million shipping containers, and it will grow to its highest levels in UAE ports to about 28.4 million containers by 2021, the DCCI said.
