Dubai - Mubasher: The UAE minister of climate change and environment Thani Al Zeyoudi said on Tuesday that all the ministry’s services will not be subject to the 5% value-added tax (VAT).
The value-added tax has been introduced to the United Arab Emirates for the first time, and will be effective starting next year.
Al Zeyoudi noted that other purchases and transactions the ministry will conduct outside of its scope will still be subject to the VAT.
The Emirati ministry has recently completed its strategy for food security in the UAE, the minister added, indicated that the focus in the upcoming period will shift towards food imports, as the UAE is a regional center for re-exporting.
The climate change and environment minister also pointed that 85% of the country’s food supple is imported from abroad, highlighting the continuous efforts to guarantee applying safety and quality standards.
