UAE’s inflation eases 0.34% in November

Dubai – Mubasher: United Arab Emirates’ Consumer Price Index (CPI) incurred a decline of 0.34% to 126.53 points in November, versus 126.97 points in October, according to a report released on Sunday by the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority.

The figures also showed a 3.52% rise year-on-year in CPI in November 2015, compared to the same month of 2014.

The food and non-alcoholic beverages prices dropped 0.69% month-on-month last November due to a decrease in the value of fruits, vegetables, fish, spices, salt and other foods, that outweighed an increase in value of the mineral water, soft drinks, tea, coffee, cocoa, sugar and sugar products.

Last November, the prices of clothing and footwear group showed a 0.92% fall m/m, while the housing, water, electricity and gas group moved 0.16% higher.

Meanwhile, the prices of furnishings and household equipment group rose 0.15%. The telecom and transportation sectors edged up 0.02% and 2.40%, respectively.

However, the alcoholic beverages and tobacco, healthcare and education groups steadied at 0.01% m/m last November.
