UAE’s non-resident deposits up 6.5% in 5M

Abu Dhabi-Mubasher: The non-resident deposits in the UAE increased by 6.5% during the first five months of 2016, according to the latest data issued by the Central Bank of the UAE.

Non-resident deposits grew to reach AED 182.56 billion by the end of May 2016 as compared to AED 171.49 billion in the same period of the previous year; an increase by AED 11.07 billion.

On a monthly basis, the deposits rose by 2.4% or AED 4.3 billion in May as compared to April when the non-resident deposits amounted to AED 178.01 billion.

The non-banking financial institutions in the UAE acquired 30.53% of the overall deposits, posting AED 55.64 billion by the end of May.
