UAE's noon.com to introduce China’s Neolix autonomous delivery in Middle East

UAE - Mubasher: noon.com, a leading online shopping platform in the Middle East, on Tuesday announced it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Neolix Huitong Technology Co, a Beijing-based technology company, to introduce driverless delivery vehicles in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Such technology will be used for the first time in the region to make last-mile delivery even smoother, according to a press release.

Mohamed Alabbar, the founder of noon.com, commented: “Introducing new technology to the region that will improve the e-commerce experience for customers is something we’re incredibly excited about. noon is very proud to bring driverless delivery vans to streets in our cities.”

The autonomous vehicles built by Neoflix will be trialled over the coming few weeks in key areas of Abu Dhabi and Dubai to complete its last-mile delivery, the release noted.

Moreover, the driverless vans are expected to cut up to 90% of the cost associated with the last mile of delivery.
