Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The UAE stock markets plan to introduce the short-selling service in the coming period to boost liquidity.
This service will help the UAE bourses to keep pace with global markets, analysts and experts said.
The UAE exchanges are working on diversifying the mechanism and tools of investment and hedging, analyst and experts told Mubasher, adding that the new services will attract investments.
Dubai’s stock exchange said on Tuesday it plans to provide covered short selling service for selected securities within months. Abu Dhabi’s bourse also announced last week its intention to introduce covered short-selling in the first quarter of 2017.
The UAE bourses seek to be upgraded from emerging to developed markets, according to Ayman Al-Kasabi, broker at Global for Shares and Bonds Company.
