UAE to raise gasoline, diesel prices in May

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The UAE’s Ministry of Energy on Sunday announced that it will increase the local prices of gasoline and diesel in May, based on international average prices.

The prices of three types of gasoline will go up next month, compared to April prices, the ministry said.

The price of unleaded 98 gasoline will be AED 2.01 in May up from AED 1.95 in April, while the price per litre of unleaded 95 gasoline will rise to AED 1.90 from AED 1.84, according to the ministry’s statement.

Unleaded gasoline 91 will increase to AED 1.83 per litre in May from AED 1.77 in April, while the price of diesel will rise by 1% to AED 1.97 instead of AED 1.95, the ministry added.

In July 2016, the UAE announced changing the fixed subsidised fuel price system to a monthly price adjustment mechanism, based on average international prices, in addition to operating costs.
