UAE - Mubasher: Employers in the UAE should decrease technology overuse to avoid remote working mental health pressures, according to global research by Aetna International.
A total of 68% of the employees surveyed by the research revealed that working remotely has put more pressure on them as they find themselves responding to work outside office hours.
Meanwhile, 72% of employees responded that working remotely blends both work and home life.
However, the study also revealed that technology has a positive impact on employee mental and physical health in the UAE, as most of the surveyed workers felt that technology has enabled them to manage workloads and do more exercise.
With the technology pros and cons, many UAE workers have supported restrictions on technology and screen time overuse for better physical and mental health.
The CEO of EMEA at Aetna International, David Healy, said: "Our research shows there is a very clear opportunity for businesses to harness the positive power of technology to help support and improve employee health and well-being."
Healy added: "However, as we do so, it is vital that we acknowledge that an always-on culture is simply not compatible with mental or physical well-being."
