UK Construction activity rebounds in October

Mubasher: Construction activity in the UK rose in October above analysts’ forecasts but remained subdued.

The activity increased to 50.8 points in October, compared to 48.1 in September, but remained well below the post-crisis trend of 54.7, according to data from IHS Markit.

Analysts had forecasted a rise to 48.3 during October.

Data also showed that October’s increase was driven by house building activities, but capped by lower volumes of civil engineering and commercial activity.

Confidence that construction activity would pick up over the next 12 months reached its lowest level since December 2012.
