UK lifts four-year ban on flights to Sharm El-Sheikh

Cairo – Mubasher: The UK government has lifted a four-year ban on flights to and from Sharm El-Sheikh, according to a statement on Tuesday.

“This decision follows close co-operation between {the UK's] aviation security experts and their Egyptian counterparts, and improvements in security procedures at the airport,” the UK’s secretary of state for transport, Grant Shapps, said.

On 31 October 2015, a Russian passenger plane crashed minutes after taking off from Sharm El-Sheikh, leading several countries, including the UK, to halt direct flights to Sharm El-Sheikh Airport.
