UK’s GDP up 0.4% in Q3; beating estimates

Mubasher: The UK's economy grew in the third quarter of 2017 beating analysts’ expectations.

Gross domestic product (GDP) rose 0.4% in the three months ended September, compared to 0.3% in each of Q2-17 and Q1-17, according to data issued by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

Meanwhile, the annual growth rate in the UK stood at 1.5%.

The service industry, which is the main contributor the Uk’s economy growth in Q3-17, went up 0.4% on the back of computer programming and retail trades.

Manufacturing increased 1% in Q3-17 after a declining record in Q2-17.

By 9:35 am GMT, the sterling pound rose to $1.31934.
