UK’s SDX Energy halts operations at Kelvin-1X in Egypt

Cairo – Mubasher: UK-based SDX Energy Inc. announced that the Kelvin-1X exploration well at South Disouq, Egypt, of which it holds 55% working interest, had low gas saturation and is deemed to be not commercial.

“The results of the Kelvin-1X well are not commercial and will not contribute to the initial production in this first phase of the development at South Disouq,” CEO of SDX Energy Paul Welch said in a statement.

The company will plug the well and abandon operation there, after it has begun drilling work earlier this month.

The rig will be moved to the next drilling site of SD-4X well at South Disouq, according to the statement.

On 10 May, SDX Energy had revealed it made a fresh oil discovery at the Kelvin-1X well at South Disouq.
