Mubasher: The United Kingdom (UK) is to finance investment projects in Qatar with a total value of GBP 4.5 billion ($6.03 billion), the Qatari Economy and Commerce Ministry said on Sunday.
The UK is the ninth trade partner of Qatar. Bilateral trade between the two countries amounted to QAR 11.6 billion in 2016, Economy and Commerce Minister HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed al Thani stated.
This announcement came in the first meeting of the Joint Economic and Trade Commission (JETCO) between Qatar the UK, which was held in London on 7 November. The second round of the meeting will be held in Doha next year.
The number of the British companies in Qatar is 79 companies with a total capital of QAR 8.1 billion, while the number of Qatari British joint ventures in Qatar is 672, operating in fields of engineering consultancy, construction, information technology, trade and services.
