Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Middle East Committee of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) on Thursday elected Mohammed Khamis Al Muhairi, undersecretary of the UAE's minister of economy, as the chairman of its new session.
This election took place during the UNWTO general assembly meeting, held in the Chinese city of Chengdu from 11 to 16 September 2017, according to Emirates News Agency (WAM).
During the current meetings, the Middle East Committee will discuss projects by member countries, draft its general policies, elect its chairmen and members of all its committees and sub-committees, and discuss all issues related to global tourism.
The assembly also provides the UAE with the opportunity to benefit from its experience in technical support, tourism statistics, tourism capacity building, and sustainable strategic planning, WAM added, citing Al Muhairi as saying.
