Abu Dhabi-Mubasher: Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC) approved 101 new development projects in 2015, according to Mohamed Al Khadar, the Executive Director of Urban Development & Estidama Sector at UPC.
The approved projects have a floor area of 13.58 million square meters, an increase by 26% as compared to 2014, Al Khadar added on the sidelines of a press conference at Cityscape.
Last year witnessed the approval of 27 projects with a total area of 9 million square meters, Al Khadar noted.
Reem Mall will be developed by National Real Estate Company (NREC) and United Projects for Aviation Services Company, with investments totalling $1 billion, Al Khadar added
The development projects also include Fahid Island, Al Kahrir housing project, in addition to and a group of lands located between Yas Island and Saadiyat Island.
A number of projects won consent in the first quarter of 2016 including Al Jazirah Institute of Science and Technology in Mohammed Bin Zayed City, in addition to a hotel project in Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain City.
Al Khadar also gave the go-ahead to Lagoons project in Saadiyat Island and the fourth phase of Al Jimi Mall in Al Ain.
