Cairo – Mubasher: US-based FedEx Corporation has signed a $1 billion contract to transport ancient Egyptian monuments of King Tutankhamun.
The American multinational courier delivery services company will transport the artefacts on a high-security Boeing 777 with gadgets that monitor humidity, temperature and light exposure, in a 7,500-mile trip, Adweek reported.
The Tut exhibit will be displayed in a tour that includes 10 European and American cities, the weekly US magazine noted.
The plane will carry about 150 pieces that had never been outside Egypt. More than 100,000 tickets were already sold under the exhibit.
The tour marks the 100th anniversary of the discovery of King Tutankhamun’s intact tomb by British archaeologist and Egyptologist Howard Carter in 1922.
