Riyadh – Mubasher: The US National Oilwell Varco (NOV) announced the launch of its first industrial facility in Saudi Arabia to produce non-metal pipes in an opening ceremony attended by Saudi Aramco’s president Amin Al-Nasser.
NOV’s new plant will contribute to increasing the added value and local content and diversifying income sources by developing new industries based on Aramco’s vast hydrocarbon resources, the oil giant’s senior vice president for technical services, Ahmed Abdulrahman Al Saadi, said in a statement.
Situated in the third industrial city, the new industrial facility is larger than NOV’s US factory and will produce non-metal pipes made primarily from oil and chemicals, Al Saadi added.
In 2018, Saudi Aramco used about 2,600 kilometres of non-metal pipes in its petrochemicals facilities, he noted.
The investment cost of the new facility wasn’t disclosed.
The new project, expected to achieve 90% Saudisation, will contribute to attracting advanced drilling technologies to the kingdom and giving a significant opportunity for high-quality exports, Saudi Aramco’s senior vice president for upstream, Mohammed Al-Qahtani, said.
