Cairo – Mubasher: The exchange rate of the US dollar against the Egyptian pound kept steady in the official market, on Wednesday, regardless of the recent decision made by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) regards raising the maximum monthly limit on cash deposits to $250,000 or its equivalent of other hard currencies.
CBE decision didn’t affect the demand and the current prices near the level of $8.60 is stable since nearly four months, said Ali EL Hariry, Deputy Head of the exchange department.
CBE move aims to facilitate the deals of importing strategic commodities and production requirements, noted EL Hariry in exclusive statement to Mubasher.
CBE maintained the pound price at EGP 7.73 against the dollar, in its latest auction no. 465.
