US investments in Egypt hit $22bn in 2019 – Madbouly

Cairo – Mubasher: The US investments in Egypt rose by 26% to $22 billion in 2019, when compared to 2017, the Egyptian prime minister Mostafa Madbouly said.

These investments have been injected through more than 1,500 companies operating in various economic sectors, including petroleum, renewable energy, agriculture, food industries, communications, and information technology, Madbouly added in statement on Monday. 

He remarked that Egypt’s economy grew by 5.6% by the end of fiscal year 2018/2019, compared to 2.1% in December 2013.

In addition, the gross domestic product (GDP) per capita reached EGP 42,900 in FY18/19, up from EGP 22,230 in December 2013.

Moreover, Egypt has become the top destination for foreign direct investment (FDI) in Africa and one of the world’s top ten economies in terms of FDI, he pointed out.
