US state secretary to visit Kuwait, sign deals Tuesday

Mubasher: US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is scheduled to visit Kuwait next Tuesday to meet with the Emir of Kuwait Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and deputy prime minister Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Kuwait’s assistant foreign minister for the Americas said.

They will sign an agreement to boost their ongoing Strategic Dialogue, in addition to other agreements in defence, security, and economic affairs, Kuwait News agency (KUNA) reported, citing Reem Al-Khaled.

They will also discuss mutual concerns, as well as global and regional matters, including the Gulf dispute, relations with Iran, and the situation in Syria, Yemen, and Libya, Al-Khaled added.

As for the Strategic Dialogue, it is currently in its third annual session that includes the topics of defence, education, economics, consulate and customs affairs, civil aviation, and cybersecurity, she pointed out.

In September, Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah signed a number of deals to reinforce relations with the US government during his visit to Washington.
