US unemployment rate rises more than expected in June

Mubasher: The US unemployment rate grew slightly more than expected to 4.9% in June from 4.7% in May.

Nonfarm payrolls rose to 287,000 in June, according to the Labor Department's Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Economists expected the unemployment rate to increase to 4.8% for June, and nonfarm payrolls to show growth of 175,000, Reuters earlier reported.
