Cairo – Mubasher: Uber is likely to raise its fares in Egypt starting from July as fuel prices are expected to surge in the coming period, general manager of Uber Egypt said.
Fare increases will be based on the hikes in fuel prices planned to be applied in July as part of the government’s energy subsidy cut plan, Ahmad Hammouda said on the sidelines of a conference held by the company on Tuesday.
Uber Bus accounts for the largest share of the ride-hailing company’s activities, he noted, revealing that the bus-booking service plans to cover all routes in Cairo by the end of 2019 and expand in other governorates.
In February, the global ride-hailing company announced an increase in the prices of its services in Egypt on the back of inflation and the introduction of the value-added tax (VAT).
