Uber takes fresh step to support Saudi women drivers

Riyadh – Mubasher: Uber has plans to launch a new feature in Saudi Arabia, which enables the ride-hailing app to provide services that are more relevant to the local culture.

Following the Saudi Women began enjoying their new right to drive cars, the US-based company planned to provide a new feature, which enables them to select only women riders.

Described by Uber as “mindful of the cultural context”, the new feature will be made available for all female drivers in the Kingdom, according to a company statement.

Earlier in May, Saudi Arabia announced that it would lift the ban preventing women from driving on 24 June.
