Riyadh – Mubasher: Official data showed that the unemployment rate in Saudi Arabia settled at 12% during the fourth quarter (Q4) of last year.
Unemployment among Saudi males amounted to 4.9%, registering an 0.8% decline compared with Q3-19, but remained unchanged among females at 30.8%, according to the Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GaStat).
Among the entire population, aged 15 years or older, the unemployment rate decreased by 0.4% to 5.7% by the end of 2019.
The total number of employees in the kingdom grew by 3.58% year-on-year (YoY) in Q4-19 to 13.39 million, compared with 12.93 million for the corresponding period a year earlier.
The number of Saudi workers increased to 3.17 million by the end of Q4-19, while resident workers increased by 393,610 to 10.22 million.
