Cairo – Mubasher: Vodafone Egypt and Etisalat have filed a request to buy 4G mobile phone service licenses in Egypt, an official at the telecom regulator told Reuters News Agency on Saturday.
This step came after Orange Egypt had signed an agreement with the telecom regulator to acquire the license at $495 million.
Last September, Egypt's Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) received no formal requests from Egypt-based mobile operators to manage a fourth-generation (4G) mobile network in Egypt
News reports claimed that Egypt’s mobile operators declined to apply for the 4G license as they do not particularly agree on the 50% dollar-collected fees.
